Chatham market steady

Many neighborhoods around Chicago have seen a steep drop in sales in recent months.  However, Chatham was one area of the city that had steady sales during 2007.

According to data from the Chicago Association of Realtors, a total of 176 single-family homes were sold during the year, just two less than the total sales seen during 2006.  It is good news for homeowners and developers looking to sell their home in Chatham.

However, not all of the news was good in the neighborhood.  The average turnover time for homes on the market rose to 102 days during 2007, up from 76 days a year ago.  This helped keep prices under control in Chatham.

The average sales price for homes sold during the year in the neighborhood was up just under $1,000.  The average sales price stood at $184,683, making this neighborhood one of the most affordable in Chicago.
