Residents of Little Village are about to see a lot of changes coming to the community. Primestor Development, Inc, a California-based developer, announced plans for a mixed-use development on 26th Street.
The development will offer a total of 100 new housing units and nearly 200,000 square feet of retail space. The 15-acre project will be completed with the help of the Little Village Community Development Corporation, which has been working to redevelop the west side of 26th Street for several years.
The commercial space at this new development would include a major grocer, movie theatre, and space for smaller businesses, a move that will bring many new jobs to Little Village.
The developer must still get approval for rezoning of the site, but there seems to be little opposition from neighborhood groups. Despite the downturn in condominium and home sales around the Chicago region, the developer still plans to go ahead as planned with this project. Little Village has not seen the heavy development of new housing that many other neighborhoods around Chicago have experienced in recent years.
Buyers will now have many more options in the Little Village neighborhood when it comes time to shop around for a new Chicago Home For Sale.
