HouseValues, Inc. today announced that longtime real estate industry executive Bob Bill has joined the company as vice president and general manager of broker services. Bill will also serve on the company's executive management team.

Sandra Guy: Want to go to the gym and grocery store at the same time? Dominick's is planning to lease space to other retailers in 15 of its larger Chicago-area stores to try to boost sales, according to real estate sources. The Oak Brook-based grocer, would likely rent space to non-competing companies such as exercise gyms or fashion clothing retailers.

Selling a prime piece of real estate and not being able to get recertified appear to be what's prompted the state to close the Howe Developmental Center and Tinley Park Mental Health Center. The formal announcement is expected today.

Oil prices continued their decline, despite the fact that 96 percent of oil production in the Gulf remained shut down after Hurricane Gustav. At the pump, gasoline prices in the Chicago area averaged .973 a gallon Wednesday, according to AAA -- half a penny below Tuesday's average.
